“It’s all in the details.” I know we have all heard that a million times, but I never actually realized just how big of a difference these certain little details can make in a home. Our home is a new build and came stocked with about a million boring builder grade light switches and outlets. There is nothing worse than designing a truly beautiful space, only to have those ugly light switches and outlets stick out like a sore thumb and ruin your aesthetic. Obviously outlets and light switches are a pretty important part of a home, so I just accepted that there was nothing I could do about the way they look (aside from photoshopping a really obvious one out of a photo every now and then).
Enter the adorne collection by Legrand. I fell in love at first sight with these sleek, modern switches and outlets. When I found out they have a Wi-Fi Lighting System that can be controlled with your phone I was 100% sold. You can win me over with pretty and stylish, but give my husband all the tech-y things and you have his heart. So needless to say, a product that can give us both of those things is a huge win in our book. I will also admit, with everything we have going on right now, I am all about anything that can make our life a little easier, even if that just means not having to get up to dim the lights once the Mr. and I finally get the chance to collapse onto the couch at night with cookies and Netflix.
This post has been a long time coming. Stella’s room has never been completely finished for the entire 2 and a half years we have been in this house. When we found out we had a baby girl on the way, we transitioned S into a “big girl” bed and began prepping the room to be their sweet little shared girls bedroom. When we lost the baby I had a really hard time coming to terms with the fact that this room was no longer going to be that, and so it sat – half finished and painful to look at – for a while.
Once I was ready I decided that I wanted to make this space extra special for Stella. She was hurting too, and she deserved a special space of her own that she could play, dream, learn, grow, and all around just be a normal kid in.
This is a very different post than I have ever shared on this blog before. If you follow me on social media you know that we lost our baby girl at 25 weeks of pregnancy back in mid December. I have been pretty quiet about our story up until this point, and we have taken the past few months to grieve privately as a family. Today would have been our sweet baby’s due date. It is likely the day we would have brought her into our life, so I think it is only fitting that it is the day we share her story with the world.
I am planning to start posting more “real life” on this blog, and this is about as real as it gets. Please know that this is not easy to read. It is raw, it is long, it is painful, and it is exactly how we lived it. I hesitated to share this here at all, but I know that there are so many people who care about us and want to hear our story. I know that one of the things that has helped me feel less lonely through all of this has been hearing and reading stories from other brave Mamas who have angel babies. And I know that her tiny little life had a purpose. She changed me, and if she can touch even just one person, then she has accomplished so much.

Many of us have ‘multipurpose spaces’ in our homes. A multipurpose space allows us to combine multiple functions into one room, like a guest room + home office combo (or if your house is like ours, it also serves as a storage closet, among other things). Sometimes creating a multipurpose space that’s functional AND stylish can prove to be a challenge, but I’m here to tell you that it is absolutely possible!
I teamed up with Cost Plus World Market over on their blog to transform our tiny 10′ x 10′ spare bedroom into the multipurpose space of our dreams. With the help of some creative storage solutions and Cost Plus World Market’s Small Spaces Collection, I was able to create an appealing space for my husband to sit down and get some work done when needed, a gorgeous and ultra-stylish guest retreat to make friends and family feel right at home when they come to visit, and a simple storage system to conceal and store toys – all in a tiny, yet functional and stylish multipurpose space.
Head on over to the World Market Blog to see all of the gorgeous details of this room and read my tips on how to create a stylish and functional multipurpose space like this in your own home!
