We have a lot going on here in our little world this year with a toddler and a new baby on the way. I have been trying to simplify our lives and our home as much as possible, and I think my Christmas decor reflects that. My goal this year was to keep it simple while still being cozy and elegant. I have to say: I think it fits our home and our family just perfectly!
Today I am sharing Part 1 of my holiday home, including our Living Room and Dining Room. This space is truly the center of our home and I wanted it to feel cozy and welcoming without being “too much”.
Our stairwell is my very favorite part of our Holiday Home this year. Can you even with that cedar garland?! Will you believe me when I tell you it was $6.99 at Trader Joe’s? Well you should! Seriously you guys, TJ’s is where it’s at for garland and fresh greenery this time of year. I would keep this up all year round if I could!
Since we don’t have a fireplace, I decided this would be the perfect spot to hang our new stockings. I adore the texture and soft neutral palette of these darling stockings. The chunky cable knit ones are from Pottery Barn (here), and that plaid cutie is from the new Hearth and Hand with Magnolia line at Target (here). Let’s talk about that for a second. I mean, I obviously knew everything Chip and Joanna touch turns to gold, but I am absolutely in love with this line. I was pleasantly surprised by the prices too! What did you think of their new line? I snagged a few Hearth and Hand pieces that you can see in this tour, but I definitely could have bought up the whole section. So. Much. Pretty !
Like my normal home decor, most of my Christmas decor is pretty neutral, but I can never resist a few pops of traditional red. It brings such a cozy, festive, nostalgic feeling. I kept it simple by adding in a couple of red throw pillows and some red berries throughout the house in my greenery and floral arrangements. I think it is just enough, and I love the way it pops against the rest of the neutral decor and our blue ottoman.
Of course I can never resist a good buffalo check and some faux fur, and both are perfect for the season! These Silent Night pillows are a Christmas staple in our house. They are such an easy and inexpensive DIY. Just get some inexpensive plain linen or canvas pillow covers (I used some like these from Hobby Lobby) and a fabric marker to hand letter the words on. If you need a little help in the handwriting department or just want to hone your hand lettering skills, check out all of my hand lettering tips and tricks. Once they are dry just stuff them with some pillow forms (these ones from IKEA are my favorite) and voila!
Speaking of Hearth & Hand, how perfect is that gold and wood tray? I love the updated look it gives our living room! I had so much fun filling it with some simple holiday goodies on our ottoman.
We have a fake tree in the den which you will see in Part 2 of my Holiday home tour coming soon, but we always cut down a real tree for this room. It is one of my very favorite family traditions. We found this adorable Noble Fir this year, and I love how perfectly imperfect it is. Our 3 year old can’t stop talking about how proud she is of her Christmas tree. This year she got to help us find it, cut it down, AND decorate it. I have to say, I think it is my favorite one yet!
There is nothing quite like that twinkly Christmas glow. I found that gorgeous faux fur tree skirt at TJ Maxx! (Similar here) It is so soft, and it is definitely making the idea of sleeping under the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve seem pretty tempting.
I was so excited to decorate our new dining room for Christmas this year! We just got this Dining Table and Chairs a few months ago and I love how simple they are, so I followed suit with the decor in here. I used my favorite macrame table runner, a simple vase filled with Holiday greenery, simple place settings, and my favorite wreath hanging from the mirror (obviously from Hearth and Hand too!)
I’ll just let you guess where those cute plaid napkins are from… Haha! They didn’t even sponsor this post you guys – I just love it that much. Although if you’re reading this Chip and Jo, I am totally open to that idea! 🙂
How do I always notice my child’s lunchtime mess all over her chair after I take the picture? #reallife folks…
Our hallways shelves got a simple little Christmas update too!
Simple, cozy, warm, inviting, modern, and elegant. Our Christmas living and dining room give me all of the Holiday feels. If you enjoyed Part 1 of my Holiday Home tour, don’t forget to check back for Part 2 coming soon!
