I am so excited to be joining up with 13 of my favorite bloggers today to bring you our 2016 Fall Home Tour Blog Hop. These ladies are all so talented and have so much gorgeous & cozy Fall inspiration waiting for you, so be sure to check out their homes as well. All of their tours are linked up at the bottom of this post, so get comfy, grab a cup of coffee (pumpkin spice or your Fall beverage of choice – I’ll take a salted caramel mocha please), and enjoy! 🙂
Fall and Winter make up my favorite half of the year. Of course I love the other seasons too, but there is just something about the crisp cool air, the changing of colors, and snuggling up by the fire with a cozy blanket and a warm beverage that just gets me all giddy. Here in California our Fall is generally very mild, so I like to stay true to that in my decor. This year I kept it simple and cozy by switching out a few key pieces, adding in some layers, and of course nothing says Fall like pumpkins and cotton stems!
With that said, welcome to my simple & cozy Fall Home! I hope you find lots of Autumn cheer and inspiration within these walls.
I kept my formal entry very simple and neutral by simply switching out my summer florals for this faux fall arrangement with stems from Hobby Lobby, adding a small simple pumpkin next to my sign, and adding a galvanized bucket filled with cotton stems to add texture.
My informal entry off of the garage got a makeover with some Fall accessories, boots, and a basket filled with pumpkins, birch logs, and a plaid scarf.
Can we just talk for a second about how cute this little hanging “give thanks” sign from the Target Dollar Spot is? What a perfect reminder for the season, and I love that my family sees it every time we walk in or out of the door.
In the den / home office space, I changed the writing on my chalkboard to this simple fall greeting (You can find my hand lettering tutorial for that HERE), and I created this simple Fall vignette in a basket on my desk.
That is actually one of my scarves over the back of my desk chair too! Don’t be afraid to decorate with accessories from your closet! Using a scarf that I already owned was free as opposed to buying a bunch of new throws for every room, and it has the exact same effect.
I have a new rug for this space on order (this one is old and worn as you can see in this photo), and I am so excited to see how the new one completely changes the look of this space. I’ll be sure to share it with you when it arrives!
Heading upstairs to the main floor, you see a little peak in at our brand new pipe shelving in this hallway. I was SO excited to decorate these for Fall.
How amazing is that farmers market sign?? My friend Sarah at Fourth & Maple made it. You can check out her gorgeous shop HERE!
I snuck in a few touches of gold throughout the house for Fall, and I love the way the gold from this cute little pumpkin and lantern from TJ Maxx contrast with the weathered look of these shelves.
I absolutely love how these turned out. I tried to keep these shelves light and simple as well, and I mainly shopped my house so they cost very little to decorate. I simplified part of my living room to balance out the addition of the shelves, so I was able to move quite a bit of that decor into this space.
I don’t like a lot of clutter in the kitchen especially, so I didn’t do much in here, but I did add some cotton stems in my milk bottle vases and one of my little chalk painted pumpkins to create a simple Fall vignette.
With all of the gatherings and holiday excitement that comes in the Fall, I feel like the dining room table is a space where you can really let your Fall decor shine through.
I created this simple Fall tablescape with lots of neutrals and Fall textures. I have a full blog post dedicated to this tablescape coming next week and I will share all of the details and sources on this space then, so stay tuned for that.
In our living room, I simply switched up some throws and pillows to give this space a cozy Fall feel. For an easy and inexpensive way to switch pillows out with the seasons, Hobby Lobby pillow covers are my go-to. They have some seriously cute ones, and if you catch them on sale they are literally only a few dollars. The gray and burlap and burlap button pillow are from there and I love them.
I also love Buffalo check for fall! I have had these black and white ones I got on Etsy out pretty much year round, but I really love the way they are vibing with the rest of the Fall pillows!
This neutral plaid throw I found at HomeGoods keeps things cozy and simple, and I love the way it coordinates with the pillows too.
Can’t get enough cozy! (I have to add – since I got these amazing white pillows, my almost two year old daughter’s new favorite word is “fluffy pillows!” She literally yells it whenever she sees any in the store. The girl knows how we roll!)
I didn’t change much on my gallery wall above the couch, just added a little bit more texture back in. I think the Magnolia stems in that vase work so well for Fall, and of course I am still IN LOVE with this Forever Young sign by TheSerendipitousHome on Etsy.
A simple little pumpkin in this tray on the ottoman adds a festive touch without competing with the rest of the decor in this space.
I think the TV wall is the real show-stopper in this space. Even though I simplified the TV cabinet with these glass demijohn bottles, I was still able to layer it up and make it feel cozy for the transition into Fall. If the TV has to be the focal point of a room, make everything else around it pretty and you might even forget it’s there! Maybe.
I love the statement this Gather sign (Also from Fourth & Maple) makes in this space. And my new snake plant Salazar is the perfect addition!
I layered some faux fall foliage (say that ten times fast!) on the TV cabinet to add some warmth and texture. I use many of the same elements as my tablescape greenery, and I love the way it ties the two spaces together.
Some wheat in a white pitcher and my DIY cotton wreath add just the right amount of texture to the space.
And of course, I keep lots of chunky throws and extra pillows handy, because Fall is for snuggling! I added some subtle Fall elements in our Master Bedroom too. You can see them in my Room Reveal HERE.
I am so glad you stopped by for my tour today. I hope you enjoyed my cozy, simple, neutral approach to the season. Decorating for Fall means something different to everyone, and I am so excited for you to explore some of those different styles and interpretations of the season throughout my friends’ beautiful homes below. So refill your mug if you are running low and settle in for the next stop on our blog hop!
Have a wonderful day friends!
