Hello friends! Welcome to Part 2 of my Summer Home Tour, Sponsored by hayneedle.com. If you are here from A Blue Nest or A House With Books on our Summer Home Tour hop, welcome! Weren’t Jordan and Hayley’s Summer homes gorgeous?! I just love each of their unique styles so much. Don’t forget to follow through to the rest of the ladies on this tour tomorrow. I have linked them all at the end of this post. The girls in this tour are some of my blogger besties, and I know you will just love them as much as I do!
I am so excited to share my newly refreshed Master bedroom with you today! When it comes to decorating my home for Summer, I love to keep things really fresh and simple. If you missed it, you can check out my Five Tips to Refresh Your Home for Summer along with Part 1 of my Summer Home Tour here. Summers here in California can get really hot. There are so many fun activities and events going on that it feels like we are always on the go, and so exhausted at the end of those long fun-filled days. During the Summer especially, I want our Master bedroom to be a fresh, calm, clean retreat to sink into at the end of the day.
I created that feeling in our Master retreat by keeping the base of my decor simple, bright, and neutral, incorporating lots of greenery (both fresh and faux) and adding in some beautiful calming Navy accents. Navy is one of my favorite colors always, but it is especially fun to decorate with in the summer.
I was searching hayneedle.com for some fun navy accessories to incorporate into our bedroom for the season, and I fell head over heels in love with this gorgeous lumbar pillow and amazing vase. They totally set the tone and became the focal point for this master bedroom refresh. I love the way the dark navy contrasts with the bright whites in the room, yet adds the calm and relaxed Summery element I was looking for.
I mean, really though. Aren’t those just the prettiest?? All the heart eyes over these pretty blue accents. I love the way they complement the pretty gold accessories I have added in throughout the room as well. You all know I love my gold!
As much emphasis as I put on aesthetics and pretty design, I place equal emphasis on function and practicality. Up until now we had been living with the tiny nightstands my husband and I built out of milk crates for our previous little condo. They were cute, but way too small. They had zero storage space, and stuff was always falling through the cracks of that thing. (I can’t tell you how many bobby pins I found at the bottom of mine when we finally moved them!) Anyways, I had been wanting to replace them for a while, I just hadn’t found the right nightstands to replace them with. That is until I saw these beauties (also from hayneedle.com).
I love everything about these. The size, storage space, and that gorgeous wood color. I feel like they are so versatile and can fit so easily into any design style. It is a whole new world having a real nightstand with actual drawers! I’m not sure how we went so long without them. Now I have a place to stash a few books just in time for some good Summer reading, electronic chargers, and let’s be honest here… all the random bobby pins.
I like to keep the linens in our master bedroom fresh and cool for Summer. I store away the heavy sheets and bulky throws and keep just a light throw blanket or two on hand instead,
Hubby’s side of the room got prettified too. He loves that these nightstands are big enough that he still has room to put stuff on top, even with all of my decor. Ha!
This little palm tree was all this little space needed to freshen things up. My sweet husband built that “love” shelf for me a few years ago. Always and forever one of my most prized home decor possessions!
Last but not least, my other favorite cozy corner! I didn’t change much here, except for moving this pretty little floor lamp into this space for those Summer reads. This is definitely one of my favorite spots in the house to cozy up.
You don’t need to do much or spend a lot of money to freshen up your home for the seasons. Get rid of things you no longer love or use, add in greenery and inexpensive accessories, rotate things throughout your house, and keep it simple and clean. This will give your home a fresh new look and feel without breaking the bank.
